Gen AI adoption still low among Singapore businesses: report

Yet 61% pegged it as transformative technology that can drive revenue and innovation.

Just 13% of businesses in Singapore have adopted Generative AI in some or most of their operations, according to a report by Capgemini Research Institute.

Only 9% allow discretionary Gen AI use for all their employees, while half set limitations, and 41% allow Gen AI use for select skilled employees.

Sustainability impacts of adopting Gen AI are not tracked by most in the city-state, with only 23% measuring carbon emissions, 30% measuring water consumption, and 23% measuring energy utilized.

Two-thirds (66%) are developing guidelines for responsible use of Gen AI, higher than the global average of 54%.

About three-fourths (74%) felt that business strategy can fundamentally shift with the adoption of Gen AI, the highest globally and a significant increase from 29% in 2023.

73% also agreed that higher levels of automation in workflows can be driven by AI agents, with 66% saying this would assist with value-added tasks. 73% already plan to use AI agents in the next three years.

The report surveyed 1,100 executives in businesses with more than US$1 billion in annual revenue across 14 countries, including Singapore.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
