Five key practices to boost cybersecurity

More than 60% of firms have yet to achieve a high level of cybersecurity readiness.

Companies still in the formative or beginning stages of building a cybersecurity-ready infrastructure can observe five practices to increase their readiness level for related incidents. 

The Cisco Cybersecurity Readiness Index suggested the firms must “continue to accelerate investment in protective cybersecurity measures across the board, including adopting a platform approach to ensure all solutions in the security stack can be leveraged to their maximum ability.”

Firms must all promptly evaluate and address vulnerabilities from unmanaged devices and insecure Wi-Fi networks.

Keeping abreast of the latest developments in Generative AI technology and leveraging them will also help firms enhance security programs and operational resilience. 

Cisco also advised firms to “ramp up the recruitment and upskilling of in-house talent to close cybersecurity talent gaps.”

“Where possible, leverage the advancements in AI to augment and automate tasks while leaning on external cybersecurity expertise to help close key gaps in building and operating cybersecurity infrastructure,” Cisco said.

Finally, companies should establish a baseline of their readiness across the five key security pillars: Identity Intelligence, Machine Trustworthiness, Network Resilience, Cloud Reinforcement, and AI Fortification.
