Consumer watchdog launches mobile app for comparing grocery prices

Price Kaki will have its pilot run in Jurong West, Tampines and Toa Payoh on 28 September.

A mobile app that allows customers to compare retail prices and stay updated on promos of household items, groceries and hawker foods will have its pilot run on 28 September, according to a press release.

Launched by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), the app called Price Kaki can also be used to track price changes of items, contribute new in-store retail prices and promotion users come across, search for nearby supermarkets and hawker centres, and earn points and rewards.

It will start with about 3,000 of the frequently purchased household and grocery items such as milk, rice, and eggs.

The app will have its pilot run in Jurong West, Tampines and Toa Payoh, where CASE will also be able to test and tweak around the app based on user feedback and experience. A nationwide launch is set in early 2020.

CASE expressed plans for a series of outreach activities and tapping on local community events at these towns on how to use the app.
