NETS launches online self-service application for merchants
Merchants can be onboarded in one working day compared to the previous two-week application.
The Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) launched its self-service application for merchants through tablets or online and self-collection of retail terminals. The company will also allow self-collection of retail terminals, an announcement revealed.
Merchants can apply for NETS services online and can be onboarded in one working day compared to the previous two-week application. They can also pick up their NETS terminals from the customer service centre and start using NETS services a day after their application.
Through the new initiatives, the company thinks that they will be able to respond more quickly to merchant needs and free up limited resources for more complex requirements and new initiatives.

“We identified internal processes which one, can be automated, thereby freeing up resources for other projects; and two, which would have the greatest positive impact on customer experience,” NETS head of customer experience and operations Yew Toon Lin said.
The group has also prepared tablets for their employees to make the onboarding process faster for non-retail merchants such as hawkers. Information entered through the tablet is uploaded directly to the operations centre.
Online applications make up 5% of new applications since the launch of the service in May.
