Creative Tech awarded $36m in damages in case against Huawei
Creative said its former vendor was "grossly negligent."
Huawei International has been ordered to pay Creative Technology $36m in a court order.
According to KGI, Huawei was held liable for misrepresentation and being "grossly negligent" when it was the vendor for Creative's wireless broadband project.
Huawei filed a counterclaim for relief from damages for the alleged termination of contract.
The court, however, dismissed Huawei's claim and awarded $36m to the company and its subsidiary QMax Communications.
If the judgement does not get appealed, the award will be recognized in the company’s financial statement for the current time period, Creative secretary Ng Keh Long said.
