SP and Qualcomm launch 5G training for polytechnic students

Over 11,000 students have benefited from the 5G programme since 2021.

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and Qualcomm Technologies have announced a collaboration to offer Qualcomm Technologies' premium 5G training and certification to polytechnic students in Singapore.

This marks the first-ever collaboration between Qualcomm Academy and an institution of higher learning in the country, it said in a press release.

Through this partnership, SP students will have access to free 5G training courses and the opportunity to earn certifications, enhancing their prospects in the dynamic 5G digital ecosystem. 

The training programmes are meticulously designed to cultivate 5G skills and knowledge among polytechnic and university-level students, thus enhancing their employability in various sectors.

Under the joint initiative, SP students will benefit from the following opportunities:

• Enrollment in Free 5G Training: SP students can enroll in two beginner-level 5G courses, namely "5G Primer and Fundamentals of Cellular Communication and 5G," where they will gain insights into 5G technology, its functionalities, use cases, and more.
• Introductory-Level Certificate in 5G: Upon completion of the two free beginner-level courses, students can opt to undertake Qualcomm Academy's 5G introductory-level certification exam. Successful candidates will receive a 5G Certificate from Qualcomm Technologies, showcasing their understanding of 5G fundamentals.
• Associate-Level Certificate in 5G: Building upon the introductory-level certification, SP students can pursue an associate-level certification in 5G. This certification, tailored for polytechnic and university students, equips them with advanced technical skills, preparing them for roles as associate-level wireless engineers in the industry.

The two beginner-level 5G courses are part of Qualcomm Academy's 5G University programme, which has already reached over 11,000 students worldwide since its launch in 2021.
