Singtel, NTUC ink five-year deal for enhanced connectivity

The telco will invest $5m for free or subsidised service.

Singtel and the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding that aims to provide improved connection to the latter’s 1.3 million members, especially youths and professionals, managers and executives (PMEs).

Under the partnership, Singtel said it will invest $5m to provide free or subsidised connectivity to NTUC members who were retrenched and from low-income families. It will also provide members with digital literacy training.

“Through this partnership, Singtel will be able to extend its support to NTUC members so they can be armed with the critical knowledge and skills to succeed amidst a rapidly evolving digital landscape,” Singtel Singapore CEO Ng Tian Chong.

NTUC members will be able to access exclusive offers and discounts across Singtel’s consumer products, such as mobile, broadband, and TV. This will include savings on phone plans and broadband services, along with complimentary Red membership for one year.

Also part of the deal is Singtel providing free connectivity for up to 6,000 members who are part of NTUC’s Care and Share umbrella. Aside from this, the telecommunications company will give 50,000 retrenched members and young seniors with subsidised mobile, broadband and TV subscription plans, along with other value-added services.

NTUC members will also be able to access online training, skill development, essential government and social services, as well as other resources while they seek employment opportunities.

Singtel said up to 50,000 members from the PME and migrant worker segments will be part of the digital literacy and scam awareness training.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
