SingStat introduces new changes to the SOCC 2024
New occupations have been added to 3 units.
The revised SSOC 2024 introduced new occupations under the 3-digit, 4-digit, and 5-digit groups, with 1, 1, and 4 additions respectively.
The Singapore Standard Occupational Classification (SSOC) is the national standard for classifying occupations and is used for censuses of population, household surveys and administrative databases.
In SSOC 2024, the terms “skill specialisation” and “skill level” were also replaced by “broad job specialisation” and “broad job level” respectively.
The SSOC 2024 update also introduces new roles in Infocomm Technology, the Green Economy, and other areas not previously covered in the SSOC 2022 codes while some occupations across major groups and unit groups have been reclassified due to evolving job responsibilities.
“Social Services, Counselling and Related Professionals” was also added to the three-digit group while about 20 SSOC codes, mainly under Major Groups 7 and 8, have been removed or merged due to obsolete or low employment counts.
