Singaporean workers wary of trusting AI: report

Workers fear losing control over AI; human oversight crucial to trust.

The majority or 95% of workers in the city-state who don’t trust AI are hesitant to adopt it, according to a report by Salesforce.

Two-thirds of those who distrust AI training data also hesitant to adopt, according to its AI Trust Quotient report. Nearly half of those not trusting AI struggled to get what they wanted from it, with 40% do not trust the data to train AI systems.

Lack of useful information (70%), out-of-date public data (65%) and incomplete customer or company data (61%) were attributed to the distrust in AI.

Accurate data (84%), secure data (82%) consistent accurate output (80%) and holistic or complete data (79%), meanwhile, were deemed necessary by respondents in building trust in the technology.

About three-fifths fear humans will lose control of AI, with 94% not able to trust AI without human oversight. 

The report said that human-led drivers like skill-building or training opportunities (74%) and more inclusivity (66%) can improve trust in AI. 

The report surveyed 545 workers in Singapore.
