Singaporean job hunters confident of getting hired in 3 months

Their confidence jumped to 60% in July.

According to the JobStreet.com Job Outlook Report, candidates’ confidence in securing jobs within three months rose from 49 per cent in December 2012 to 60 per cent in July 2013. 

This is leading many employees to consider changing jobs in order to further their careers and gain an increase in pay.

The overall job growth for the second half of the year remains steady as 48 per cent of Singaporean employees surveyed are optimistic that the job outlook will be better compared to the first half of the year.

Eighty-three per cent of employees indicated they are considering changing jobs in the next six months, citing salary as the main reason.

Nevertheless, candidates may have to heavily compete for job openings as big companies with over 100 employees are looking at less than 50 new hires for the next six months.

Majority of companies with less than 100 employees are planning to fill less than 10 positions within their organisations.

More than half of candidates surveyed said their biggest frustration is employers who never bother to get back to them on their application status, even after the job interview
