Singapore ranks second fastest in Asia on time spent reading resume

Guess what country breaks Singapore's record of 9 minutes and 32 seconds?

For candidates applying for a position in an organisation, your CV is typically short listed by human resources before it lands on the desk of the final decision maker. In the finance, accounting and banking industries, it may very well be the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will have the final say.

According to a survey which involved senior-level financial proffessionals conducted by Robert half, CFOs in Hong Kong spend an average of 8 minutes 25 seconds to read a CV and decide if a  person is worth an interview or not worth hiring at all.

The survey also found that the average time spent to read CVs globally is 11 minutes 17 seconds. In addition, CFOs in Hong Kong spend substantially less time in evaluating each  job applicant when compared with their counterparts in Singapore (9 minutes 32 seconds),  Japan (10 minutes 51 seconds) and China (12 minutes 17 seconds). The least amount of  time is spent by CFOs in Dubai, averaging just 6 minutes 44 seconds, while the longest  time is spent by CFOs in Switzerland at 14 minutes 46 seconds.
