Singapore employees' commitment to their bosses hit a measly 22%

And they're on the prowl for better jobs.

According to the Kelly Global Workforce Index (KGWI), just over one-third (34%) of workers in Asia Pacific feel totally committed to their current employer.

The highest levels of employee commitment are in India (50 per cent totally committed), Indonesia (43 percent) and Malaysia (34 percent). The lowest are in Hong Kong (15 percent), Thailand (20 percent) and Singapore (22 percent).

“Higher salary and benefits” is identified as the top factor that makes employees feel more committed or “engaged” with their job.

Half (50 percent) in Singapore say they actively look for better job opportunities or evaluate the external job market, even when they are happy in their job.

Just 23 percent in Singapore say that they would be likely to recommend their employer to a friend or colleague as an employment opportunity.

This is lower than the Asia Pacific average (28 percent) and the global average (29 percent). Company culture/reputation was noted most frequently as the most influential factor when recommending an employer.
