Singapore is the best Asian city for expats
Nine in 10 expats enjoy living in the city-state.
Singapore is indeed a top spot for expats, a study by the InterNations revealed. The city-state ranked fifth in the world rankings, next to Melbourne, Houston, Madrid, and Duesseldorf.
The study Expat Insider 2016 revealed that majority of Singapore expats, or nine in 10, do enjoy living in the city state, agreeing to be quite satisfied with their life abroad in general.
"The city leaves its Asian competitors far behind with an eighth place in the Quality of Life Index. What is more, it even makes it the very top in the Safety & Security subcategory: over 80% consider the city’s safety very good. This is a more than significant difference to the global average of only 38% saying the same about their city of residence," the group stated in a press release.
Singapore also does quite well in the Ease of Settling In Index, occupying tenth place world wide. This might be due to the Feeling Welcome subcategory, where Singapore came in at ninth place.
"For example, 73% of the respondents say that it is easy to get used to the local culture in Singapore. Among the other Asian cities, only Kuala Lumpur does better with regard to settling in, ranking eighth out of 35," the group noted.
