PMET eats up 48.5% of job vacancies in 2017

Lack of experienced talents keep plaguing the segment.

Professional, managers, executives, and technicians (PMET) roles account for 48.5% of job vacancies in Singapore last year, according to a report by Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

The PMET share of job vacancies in 2017 is higher compared to 47.9% in 2016 and 39.2% in 2013. MOM said the increase was mainly in PMET-dominated industries such as financial services and whole trade.

“The majority of PMET vacancies in 2017 came from public administration & education, financial services, professional services and information & communications. They included software, web & multimedia developers, teaching & training professionals, commercial & marketing sales executives and management executives,” MOM explained in the report.

In addition, the agency noted the lack of candidates with necessary work experience as the top reason why PMET job openings were hard to fill.

Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
