Part-time and flexible work policies encouraged for Merdeka generation

Half of the Merdeka seniors remain “gainfully employed,” which is why there should be policies allowing them to work part-time or do flexible work arrangements, according to Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA).
ROSA said there should also be financial incentives to “foster sustainable economic stability within this demographic.”
Skill development programmes such as SkillsFutureSG can also help expand job prospects.
“Crucially, policies aimed at their work engagements should consider their skills and interests, aligning them with suitable employment opportunities,” read the study.
