Over 1 in 2 fresh grads looking ditch their current bosses within just two years: report

Most also expect rapid promotions.

Majority of Singapore’s fresh graduates are just sticking it out during their first jobs. A survey released today by LinkedIn revealed that 54% of Singaporean fresh graduates are open to a job switch just within two years of working.

This figure is a tad higher than the Asia Pacific average of 51%. More to the point, an overwhelming 84% of fresh graduates expect a promotion within the first two years of their career.

Interestingly, fresh graduates in Singapore said that in addition to higher salary (84%) and better career opportunities (72%), colleagues play an important role (63%) and would convince them to stay in their current job.

Meanwhile, 73% of mid-career professionals in Singapore expect a promotion within two years of starting a job. This figure is well ahead of Hong Kong at 59%, at par with Australia at 72%, but behind India at 82%.

In Singapore, a high income is seen as a top measure of success (65%) so money is a driving factor in the minds of mid-career professionals, with 82% ranking a pay rise as the most compelling factor to stay in a company. This is the highest in the region, ahead of Hong Kong (78), Australia (77%) and India (63%).

Career opportunities came in second by 62% of such professionals, while 48% said more recognition would keep them in their current jobs as compared to 38% in Asia Pacific.
