Operating expenses amongst hurdles in AI adoption: IT leaders

Four in 10 are skeptical about the readiness of their digital infrastructure in AI adoption.

More than four in 10 (44%) IT heads polled in Singapore said their existing digital infrastructure is not fully ready for the AI tech requirements, Equinix said in its recent study. 

Above 90% of IT decision-makers surveyed in the city-state eyeing to benefit from AI advantages are already planning to use it across multiple key functions.

Businesses are most likely to be using AI or planning to use it in cybersecurity (91%), followed by IT operations (90%), and customer experience (83%).

Aside from operating expenses, lack of internal knowledge (50%) on the technology bars businesses from adopting AI.

Equinix’s survey analysed IT leaders’ responses to AI advances in their businesses. It polled 2,900 IT decision-makers in 29 markets from March 8, 2023–April 7, 2023. This includes 600 leaders from Asia Pacific markets such as Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, and Korea.
