Only 35% of Singapore bosses eye boosting staff headcount

That's for the second half of 2013.

According Michael Page report, overall, staffing numbers for the second half of 2013 are anticipated to remain stable in Singapore, according to 55% of surveyed employers.

However, only 35% of surveyed employers are expected to increase staff numbers and 45% anticipate boosting headcount by up to 5%, while 33% of survey respondents are likely to increase staff numbers by 10% to 15%. Surveyed employers will focus their hiring activity at the mid-level (56%).

The Michael Page Singapore business has observed that a number of factors have led to companies being likely to increase staff numbers over the second
half of 2013.

This includes positive signs from recovering economies in the United States and Europe lessening hiring freezes elsewhere, Singaporean listed companies growing in the region, multinational companies continuing to set up regional offices in Singapore and the South East Asia market as a whole being seen as yet to achieve its business potential with opportunities for growth in Myanmar, Indonesia and Thailand.
