NTUC unveils scheme to aid SME employees
Employers will be allowed to purchase NTUC Club corporate membership.
Good news for employees working for small and medium-sized enterprises in Singapore as there will be additional benefits available to them with the new scheme introduced by the National Trades Union Congress.
The NTUC Club Corporate Membership Scheme (NCCMS) will be open to NTUC U SME partners, a network of about 13,000 SMEs employing 300,000 workers.
The scheme will allow SME employers to purchase NTUC Club’s corporate membership for their employees – at $120 per year or $10 per month per employee. Privileges include access to club facilities and to promotions from various NTUC merchant partners.
The employees will also be given the opportunity to apply for scholarships, bursaries, and NTUC U Care vouchers. NTUC assistant director-general Yeo Guat Kwang said this came after SMEs’ feedback on the challenges they face in providing staff welfare due to a lack of resources.
“The companies also have problems in trying to match to bigger companies with the kind of staff benefits that they can extend to their workers," he said, adding that by extending such benefits, SME bosses will be able to better retain their workers.
