Nine in 10 poly graduates employed within six months after graduation

Over half of poly graduates in the labour force are employed full-time.

Polytechnic graduates have been in demand by industry in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Polytechnic Graduate Employment (GES) shows.

Amongst the 7,360 polled polytechnic graduates in the labour force, 87.4% said they were employed within six months after graduating, whilst 2.9% said they either just accepted a job offer or were beginning a business venture.

Moreover, more than half (52%) of those in the labour force were employed full-time, whilst only 31.6% were employed part-time. Amongst those who were employed part-time were those who were part of the SGUnited Traineeships Programme (5.2%).

“Consistent with previous years, about half the polytechnic graduates in part-time/temporary employment indicated that they were concurrently pursuing or preparing to begin further studies,” the study noted.

In addition, graduates employed full-time received a median gross salary of $2.400 in 2020.

The survey was conducted jointly by Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic.
