New accreditation framework for directors to be launched

It will allow directors to have greater clarity on competencies in sustainability.

The Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) will be rolling out a new accreditation framework for directors to have greater clarity on digitisation and sustainability.

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong revealed this in a speech during the SID 25th anniversary commemorative event. He cited the three important considerations that boards should look at including talent, reducing carbon footprint, and technology investment.

“With this framework, directors will be able to better navigate the wide range of courses that are available to build their competencies. The framework will also provide a common standard for companies to assess directorship appointment,” said Wong. 

He also disclosed that the SID is launching the “Governance for Good Alliance, to raise the profile of Singapore’s ecosystem of good governance and recognise those who have contributed invaluable resources to SID’s cause.”

“More stakeholders will join the Alliance and rally behind SID’s mission to uplift corporate governance, and good business decision-making, in Singapore,” said Wong.
