Nearly 6 in 10 Singaporeans rate employers as ‘average’ in upholding values

The majority of workers find the values of the company as important.

If they could rate their employers in promoting values, more than half or 57% of workers in the Lion City said their bosses are doing an “average job,” a Milieu Insight research showed.

More than three in 10 workers said their companies are doing a good job in upholding values whilst 8% are doing a bad job.

For workers in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, 51% of them said their companies are doing an average job at upholding positive values, 44% are saying firms are doing a good job, and 5% said their firms are doing a bad job. 

Another finding from the report is that more than 40% of Singaporeans also said values at a company they work for is important, 16% said it is very important, whilst only 33% are somewhat important.

Contrary to this, 4% of Singaporean workers said it is somewhat unimportant for their jobs to have values, 2% are saying it is unimportant, and 1% said it is very unimportant.

The respondents of the May 2022 survey include 4,000 employees from four markets, with 1,000 each in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
