MinLaw, WSG offer traineeship opportunities for fresh law graduates

Trainees may also get hired by the host companies.

The Ministry of Law (MinLaw) and Workforce Singapore (WSG), in collaboration with the Law Society of Singapore (LawSoc), have announced that they will support Singapore law firms to tap on the SGUnited Traineeships Programme to provide and support opportunities within the law practices, a press release revealed.

The programme includes practice training contracts for law graduates and traineeship opportunities in other roles, such as paralegals, legal secretaries, and legal technologists.

Host organisations may also benefit by gaining access to a qualified pool of talent and can consider hiring well-performing trainees on a permanent basis after the traineeship period.

The SGUnited Traineeships Programme was first announced in the Resilience Budget and further expanded as part of the SGUnited Jobs & Skills Package in the Fortitude Budget, to support up to 21,000 recent and new graduates of the Institutes of Technical Education, polytechnics, universities and other educational institutions. Trainees will also receive a training allowance, of which the government will fund 80% whilst the host organisation funds the remaining 20%.
