IPOS partners with various firms to raise IP awareness in Singapore
In Singapore, workers in IPR-intensive jobs are paid 9.2% more than those in non-IP-intensive jobs.
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) will partner with NTUC’s Visual, Audio, Creative Content Professionals Association (VICPA) to raise IP awareness and proficiency amongst creators in Singapore over the next few years.
The partners will help VICPA members enhance IP value with resources like guidelines and case studies, and equip creators to manage and monetise their IP through training on licensing, negotiation, and commercialisation.
IPOS revealed that one in five jobs created in Singapore between 2017 and 2021 were from IPR-intensive industries, where employees were paid 9.2% more than those in non-IP-intensive industries.
IPOS will also continue upskilling initiatives with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy over the next five years to help businesses and IP professionals use IP for sustainable growth.
In addition, IPOS will also extend its partnership with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) for three more years to enhance the maritime sector’s IP capabilities, including training companies and MPA on IP strategies and helping maritime enterprises, startups, and research institutions commercialise their IP.
