Here’s how small firms can keep millennials happy
Pay is not the only thing that matters.
Tech startups need to learn what makes young employees tick if they want to stay afloat in Singapore’s ultra-competitive job market, according to a report by Randstad.
As the number of start-ups increases due to the high levels of venture capital investment, SMEs will be looking to hire the best tech talent around Singapore and Asia Pacific.
“To attract the high calibre IT candidates, SMEs should play to Millennials’ entrepreneurial spirit by leveraging the appeal of building a company from the ground up. Working at a start-up also allows a level of creativity and experimentation that most large companies do not offer, in a less structured work environment,” said Daljit Sall, Associate Director for IT at Randstad Singapore.
“Start-ups also need to learn how to incentivise their employees. For example, young workers are generally more worried about work-life balance than career progression or personal growth, so it is important that employers set achievable goals and realistic work hours,” added Sall.
