The GUILD International College officially opens in Singapore

It is the first college in Singapore dedicated to differently-abled young adults.

The GUILD International College has officially opened its doors to students aged 12-25 who seek alternatives to traditional academic programmes.

It is the first college in Singapore dedicated to differently-abled young adults, to learn in a non-academic environment, aiming to promote a future where education is sustainable and holistic.

An official opening ceremony was held on Friday with Member of Parliament and Deputy Chair of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Sustainability and the Environment, Poh Li San who officiated the proceedings alongside The GUILD’s Founding Director, Jayne Nadarajoo.

“Every student deserves an excellent education – experiences and learning that fits them and unlocks potential, confidence and real opportunity in life. The GUILD International College makes that a reality for students underserved by the current system, and we are proud to offer a safe space that is welcoming to all in our community,” Jayne said.

Students of The GUILD are guided by a designated Job Coach who educates the students on communication skills with hands-on pre-vocational training in the areas of job readiness, food service, retail, grocery industry and clerical. It aims to bridge the gap between education and employability as shown by the recent partnership with Flourish Bakehouse to provide pre-vocational training to students who are studying at their Phoenix Park campus.

The GUILD’s campus boasts of multifaceted facilities such as Art and Design Studio, Multipurpose Hall, Zen Room, Carpentry Studio, Life Skills Room, and more, dedicated to creating a nourishing ground for future changemakers. These facilities are in line with the founders ideology to create a space for sustainable education, which is echoed by Ronald Stones OBE, the GUILD’s Director of Education & Engagement and veteran educator who has helmed prestigious institutions such as the Green School in Bali.

The GUILD will work towards helping their students to attain the Work Right Certificate accredited by ASDAN UK to show future employers that they possess the relevant skills to work for them.
