Exabytes launches initiative for women entrepreneurs
Women comprise just 26% of business owners in Singapore.
Digital solutions provider Exabytes has commenced the initiative Women Entrepreneurship with Exabytes in Singapore and Malaysia, aimed at providing women entrepreneurs in both countries with a platform to “turn their business ideas into reality”.
Launched on 5 March in celebration of International Women’s Day 2021 on 8 March, the Women Entrepreneurship initiative offers 200 select women entrepreneurs in Singapore and Malaysia a free website or online store setup. Those with existing businesses registered in either of the two countries can apply via Exabytes' website.
Exabytes has committed sponsorship amounting to $350,000 and $115,253 (RM350,000) to the initiative in Singapore and Malaysia, respectively.
Concurrently, Exabytes has also joined forces with Her Rise Above, a local business essentials programme that aids low-income women in starting or growing their home businesses, which will refer 20 individuals to apply for the Women Entrepreneurship initiative.
“Owning an e-commerce platform can be a powerful source of income for many, but most don’t know where or how to start; we hope to change that with Women Entrepreneurship with Exabytes,”said founder and CEO Chan Kee Siak. “Through our years of experience digitalising SMEs, we have seen how simply setting up an online store or website immediately kickstarts entrepreneurial journeys.”
The programme will run throughout March 2021, with the deadline for applications on 31 March 2021.
