The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will launch a series of measures between October 2019 to 2021 aiming to help employers find foreign domestic workers (FDWs) matching their needs.
The Centre for Domestic Employees and Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training will begin to offer free dispute resolution services to employers, FDWs, and employment agencies (EAs) starting end-October.
Employers and EAs will also have access to information on a prospective FDW’s prior work experience and length of employment in Singapore starting October 2020. This includes key job scope, residence type, household size, and the reason they left their last employment.

Japanese media giant Nikkei has acquired a 14.79% stake in AI startup DC Frontiers (DCF) to enhance its data and news service scoutAsia.
After acquiring the Financial Times (FT) in a $1.3-billion deal in 2015, Nikkei and FT launched scoutAsia last year to provide a comprehensive English-language database of Asian companies and reliable Asian business news.
“Joint projects such as scoutAsia and Excedo (a business English education programme) are part of the Nikkei Group’s strategic diversification of its business lines,” Nikkei said in a statement.
The Japanese media house added that DCF’s AI and machine learning technologies will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of scoutAsia’s news monitoring and corporate information search functions, as well as jointly develop various features on the platform which will be available from October.

Consultancy firm Dr. Reckendorfer & Partners (DR&P) has acquired a minority stake in Bangkok-based investment firm Terra Capital to support the firm and its current investment portfolio in their expansion and revenue goals.
Terra Capital CEO and founder Stefan Gunnarsson established Terra Capital in 2017 for early stage investments in Southeast Asia.
In addition to Singapore, Dr. Reckendorfer & Partners has seven offices in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Belgrade, Limassol, and Vienna.
