Maybank launched its ‘FutureReady’ digital upskilling programme, aimed to increase its employees’ digital literacy as well as equip them with capabilities that will ensure their relevance now and in the future.

Made mandatory for all employees, the training is part of Maybank’s continuous commitment to humanising people development, and enabling them to meet customers’ needs more effectively in the fast-changing digital world.

The training’s comprehensive curricular is anchored on six key areas of skills namely digital awareness, data-driven decision making, human-centred design, agile, future communication and risk & governance in the digital world.

Last week, Sembcorp Industries Limited released its 2018 first quarter earnings. As a quick introduction, Sembcorp Industries is a bona-fide conglomerate with four major business segments: Utilities; Marine; Urban Development; and Others. The Marine segment’s contribution comes from Sembcorp Industries’ 61% ownership stake in Sembcorp Marine Ltd. Here are nine important things to know about Sembcorp Industries’ latest results:

Revenue for the reporting quarter jumped by 30% year-on-year to S$2.76 billion. But, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) for the quarter actually fell by 17% year-on-year to S$286 million.Profit from operations for the quarter declined harder, as it came in at S$213 million, 21% lower compared to a year ago.

Ultimately, Sembcorp Industries’ net profit for the quarter sank by 34% year-on-year to S$77 million. Sembcorp Industries’ net debt increased from S$7.16 billion at end-2017 to S$7.29 billion as of 31 March 2018.

The National Heritage Board (NHB) of Singapore has refreshed its Bukit Timah Heritage Trail with new historical sites and updated features for easier accessibility.

The trail now features a total of 38 heritage landmarks, including the newly added Bukit Timah Railway Station, St Joseph’s Church, Former Command House and Fuyong Estate.

NHB has also installed eight new trail markers to highlight and describe sites on the trail, as well as introduced three 2.5km-long thematic routes for visitors to explore different segments of Bukit Timah.
