Chart of the Day: Number of retrenched workers fell 39% from 5,440 to 3,300 in Q4
The number of retrenched permanent employees hit 3,000.
This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) shows that across a year, the number of retrenchments in Singapore dipped 39.34% YoY from 5,440 to 3,300 in Q4.
On a quarterly basis, there wasn't much change from 3,400 in Q3.
Between the third and fourth quarter of 2017, retrenchments also decreased in construction and services, but rose in manufacturing.
The number of retrenched term-contract employees hit 300, whilst the number of retrenched permanent employees hit 3,000.
