Chart of the Day: Median gross monthly income rises to $4,232 in 2017
Workers' skills are improving.
This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) shows the median income for full-time employed residents grew from $4,056 in 2016 to $4,232 in 2017.
Growth rate hit 4.3% or 3.7% in real terms, faster than the nominal 2.7% and 3.3% real increases in 2016.
MoM said the growth was caused mainly by improved economic conditions and a higher-skilled workforce.
Real GDP grew by 2.4% in the twelve months ending June 2017, compared with 1.8% in the same period ending June 2016.
Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMET) job vacancies increased from 26,300 in June 2016 to 27,500 in June 2017, whilst non-PMET job vacancies declined further from 24,200 to 22,500.
