9 of 10 SIT fresh grads secured employment within six months
Over 80% got full time permanent work.
Over nine out of ten or 92.5% of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) alumni who completed their studies between October 2017 and September 2018 were employed within six months after graduation, slightly higher than the 92.3% from the previous year, according to a press release.
The proportion of fresh graduates in the labour force who secured full-time permanent (FTP) employment remained at 82.9% compared to last year. Among them, the average gross monthly salary was $3,437, up from $3,350 in 2017.
Information & Digital Technologies graduates showed an increase in median salary from $3,600 in 2017 to $4,000 in 2018, whilst Engineering programme graduates also earned a median of $3,400 in 2018, from $3,200 in 2017.
Meanwhile, 7% were working part-time or temporarily and 2.6% entered freelance work, though most of them were either pursuing further studies, embarking on a business venture, or preferred a shorter or flexible working hours.
The newly conferred Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land), Information and Communications Technology (Information Security) and Information and Communications Technology (Software Engineering) programmes had 96.6%, 100% and 95.7% of its first batch in the labour force secure FTP employment in six months, respectively.
About 95.7% of Allied Health graduates and 90.7% of Nursing graduates from the SIT-University of Glasgow joint programme clinched FTP employment.
Over 80% of the university’s cohort of 1,707 graduates from SIT and SIT’s nine Overseas University partners across 33 degree programmes participated in SIT’s fifth annual GES.
