7 in 10 Singaporeans dare to switch jobs for higher income

Will the work-life balance be sacrificed?

According to its findings from the National Day Survey, jobsDBS said workers in Singapore want the opportunity to progress and earn higher incomes, however they believe it comes at a cost.

The survey noted that 77% of respondents would look to move jobs to ‘secure a higher income’, however, 67% believe that ‘willingness to accept a lower salary’ is important in securing a job.

On average, the ‘opportunity to progress’ in a new role was rated as extremely to highly important by 84% of respondents when looking for a prospective employer.

This was closely followed by maintaining a ‘work/life balance’ (83%).

These results demonstrate the increasingly ambitious nature of workers in Singapore but reflect the hard reality that many workers feel they are consistently undervalued, further supporting the results of the Consumer Market Survey released by jobsDBSingapore on 4 July 2013.
