4 in 5 Singapore employees want flexi work

But 55% fear it will interfere with personal time.

Four in five Singapore employees and job seekers want to have agile work for a work-life balance, a study by human resources firm Randstad Group revealed.

Respondents believe that work autonomy increases productivity, creativity, and job satisfaction. The survey also found that three in four employees in Singapore already experience flexibility to work from home and outside of business hours.

However, 55% of employees think that the freedom will likely interfere with their personal lives.

“As more and more companies provide employees with digital devices such as smartphones and laptops, workers in Singapore may feel compelled to be “always-on” and are not always sure how and when to disconnect,” the firm said.

The study also noted that women in Singapore have less tendency to feel that agile working has interfered with their personal life as compared to men.

“Digital devices should not cause any unnecessary stress and employers who entrust their staff with the flexibility to work outside of the office at a time that works best for them are encouraged to respect employees’ working hours,” Randstad Singapore managing director Jaya Dass said.
