STADA initiates knowledge transfer with its American counterpart

STADA-ASTD partnership supports Singapore government's aim of developing nation as Human Capital Development leader.

Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA) on Monday announced its partnership with the world’s leading training and development body, American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). The collaboration includes the introduction of the inaugural ASTD/STADA Asia Pacific Conference in Singapore in November 2011.  ASTD President and CEO, Tony Bingham was in town to officially launch the partnership and kick-start cross border ties with a series of talks to CEOs, learning professionals and the HR industry, according to a STADA report.

The ASTD/STADA Asia Pacific Conference is a key component of STADA’s initiatives to help Singapore meet its national objectives of increasing productivity by 3-5% over the next 10 years through the acquisition and application of knowledge in the workplace.  As part of the partnership, STADA will be the ASTD Education provider in Singapore - offering five ASTD certificate programs. These programs are business enablers, purposely designed to assist companies to develop a competitive edge and to increase their productivity.

Said Tony Bingham, ASTD President and CEO, “I’m excited to have formed this alliance with STADA. The transfer of knowledge and skills between the west and east is becoming increasingly important.  As the world is becoming flatter, we need to understand how to work this new global ecosystem to bring out the best in our workforces.”

Ultimately, our aim is to position Singapore as a leader in the development of human capital in Asia.” added Robert Yeo, Executive Director and CEO of STADA.

As part of Mr Bingham’s visit to Singapore, he will be sharing his experiences and knowledge of trends and findings on talent development with C-suite audiences. In addition to being President and CEO of ASTD, Mr. Bingham is also the co-author of the book New Social Learning.  Using stories and case studies, he offers compelling evidence for the training profession on how to transform organisations using social media tools – facebook, YouTube, Twitter and blogs.
