Over 285,000 Singaporeans already reap benefits from SkillsFuture Credit

SkillsFuture Credit take up increased by 27% in 2017.

Over 285,000 Singaporeans already benefited from SkillsFuture Credit since its launch in 2015, based on SkillsFuture Singapore’s (SSG) 2017 year in review.

SkillsFuture Credit provides Singaporeans aged 25 and above with $500 to take up SkillsFuture-accredited courses that will help them develop their skills.

A total of 160,000 Singaporeans took up SkillsFuture Credit in 2017, with infocomm technology as the most taken course.

Moreover, about 120,000 mid-career workers already benefited from the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy since its roll out in 2015. The programme provides Singaporeans aged 40 and above with 90% subsidy for SSG-funded courses.

In addition, 4,600 Singaporeans already participated in the SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace even though it was just launched last October. The programme aims to prepare the workforce with the skills to help them take advantage of the opportunities in the future economy.

“Take-up figures of various SkillsFuture initiatives is a good sign that Singaporeans are charting their own learning and career paths. We hope more Singaporeans will join in the SkillsFuture movement,” said SSG in a Facebook post.
