IMDA partners with Aviva Singapore to provide cloud computing training
Around 60 fresh and mid-level ICT professionals will be trained over the next three years.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and insurance provider Aviva Singapore inked deals to offer a cloud computing training programme in a bid to enhance employees’ digital capabilities and further meet insurance customers’ needs, an announcement revealed.
The initiative is part of IMDA’s company led training (CLT) programme which aims to enable fresh and mid-level infocomm technology (ICT) professionals to acquire practical technical skills and specialist competencies for in-demand jobs to drive Singapore’s digital economy and address the ICT workforce skills shortage, the parties said in a joint statement.
“As companies continue to compete in the digital age, it is imperative to help the workforce embrace inevitable change and future-proof them,” Aviva Singapore people director Anuradha Purbey said in a statement. “This will help organisations retain talent and strengthen internal capability.”

According to the announcement, Aviva Singapore will fast-track fresh professionals through a 12-month NexGen technology programme aimed at young IT professionals, whilst mid-level professionals will receive training in cloud computing capabilities over six months. The CLT programme is forecasted to train up to 60 fresh and mid-level employees over the next three years.
Meanwhile, the inaugural cohort of the NexGen technology programme will undergo a customised cloud computing programme that comprises of on-the-job training, e-learning and in-person training. Additionally, new hires will be paired with an existing employee as a mentor to enable co-learning.
“Upon the completion of the CLT, trainees will be able to develop and use computational models, tools and techniques to interpret and understand data, solve problems and guide decision-making,” the parties said in a joint statement. “These new generation of cloud computing professionals will be enabled to proactively identify customer needs and sustain a culture of service excellence within the organisation.”
