Government requires large construction firms to undergo CET

Companies have 12 months to implement CET measures to be able to bid government projects.

The national drive to boost productivity across all sectors in Singapore has been extended to the construction sector. All large construction firms must show that they are committed to Continuing Education Training (CET) in order to bid for government projects, according to an Enterprise One report.

The move is aimed at enhancing skills, and also driving competitiveness and the capacity to handle more complex projects.

From November 2010, all large construction firms have to put CET initiatives in place in order to register on the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Contractors Registry. They have 12 months to do so.
