Unsatisfied female workers are not looking to move: survey

Only 59% of women in Singapore are happy with their employers.

If the latest Workmonitor Research by Randstad is anything to go by, then it would appear that female employees in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia are the least satisfied with their posts.

According to the study, 59% of women in Singapore, or only almost 3 in 5, said that they are generally satisfied about working with their current employer. The same trend is apparent in Hong Kong (49%) and Malaysia (69%).

As for the men, 66% of those in Singapore said they are satisfied in general about working with their current employers. It’s 58% for Hong Kong and 75% for Malaysia.

The report also found that despite the lower satisfaction held by female employees around their jobs, they are also the least likely to do something about it and start looking for a new job opportunity.

Compared to 35% of men in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, only 31% of female employees stated that they are currently looking for a new job.

Randstad Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia managing director Michael Smith said the gap between gender satisfaction with their roles reveals that there is still work to be done by employers to address their employer value proposition to properly suit the needs of their entire workforces.

"The Randstad Employer Brand Research has shown that women typically have different requirements for their jobs in contrast to those of men – women tend to seek positive working environments, accessibility, and flexibility from their employers. As more and more organisations begin to understand the importance and benefits from taking their employer brand to the next level, we can expect to see this satisfaction gap decrease," he explained.
