Online hiring up 18% in Q3
Recruitment activity in the IT sector rose 46%.
Online hiring grew 18% in Q3 2019 despite sluggish economic growth, according to a report by online recruitment company, Monster.
The overall online hiring sentiment hit an annual high of 19% YoY for the months of July and August, followed by an 18% annual increase in September.
Hiring in the IT sector which started out strong, surged 44% YoY in July, and 49% YoY in August, is setting in a steady pace with 46% YoY in September
This was followed by the advertising & marketing sector, where online hiring rose 34%, 38% and 35% for July, August and September, respectively. Other notable industries were hospitality and consumer goods, which rank amongst the top growth sectors with double-digit YoY increases in online hiring demand during the quarter.
Recruitment in the Software, Hardware, and Telecom sector followed the upward trend as well, witnessing an 33%, 32% and 29% YoY increase in demand for July, August and September, respectively.
Not too far behind was Hospitality & Travel talent with an upward trajectory of 25%, 30% and 31% annual growth for the respective months of July, August and September. Professionals in Marketing & Communications, Sales & Business Development and Finance & Accounts roles also witnessed strong demand, ranking among the top growing occupations for the quarter.
