85% of Singaporeans are eyeing to shift jobs in the next 6-12 months

Some cited flexible working conditions for leaving current employers.

About 85% of Singaporeans are eyeing to make a career move in the next six to 12 months, according to the Global Hiring Realitites’ survey of Morgan McKinley.

The reason cited by 41% of professionals for leaving their current employer is if they won’t provide them with flexible working arrangements.

Employers, however, are already resolving issues on new working arrangements, with 90% of them saying they have already changed their policies about the matter.

Other ways employers do to retain and attract talent is through increasing salaries and compensations, which 45% say is the “most effective form of talent attraction.”

Employees (42%), for their part, are clueless about the steps taken by their employees to retain them.

Gurj Sandhu, managing director of Morgan McKinley Singapore, said data gathered in the survey only shows that “The Great Resignation is real.”

“Senior leaders and HR departments have never been so busy to ensure they are in tune with the needs of their employees, as well as the external market, so they can retain their current staff and attract new people,” Sandhu said.

Meanwhile, Sandhu said employers are also now aware that “creating a wonderful candidate experience increases their chances of landing their ideal candidate.”

“We have seen clients streamline their laborious interview processes, reduce the number of unique rounds, offer flexibility in availability, be more disciplined with start/finish times, as well as increasing engagement throughout the process,” the managing director said.

Based on the survey, 46% of Singaporean professionals declined job offers, whilst about 65% of global employers have lost their preferred candidates due to lengthy hiring processes.
