1 in 3 workers mull changing employers in 1H 2022

Randstad said more employees are tempted to switch jobs as job vacancies abound.

One in three (31%) workers are mulling changing employers in the first half of 2022 ending in June, a survey by HR solutions agency, Randstad, showed.

The latest finding marks a three-point increase from the same period last year, representing more employees wanting to switch jobs.

Randstad also found that even employees who are afraid of losing their jobs are also planning to change their jobs (41%) in 1H 2022, whilst 26% of those unafraid share the sentiment.

Jaya Dass, Managing Director at Randstad Singapore and Malaysia said, more employees are tempted to find better work opportunities  "as job vacancies abound and outnumber job seekers in the market."

Last year, from July to December, Randstad found that 18% of employees they surveyed had already switched employers and they did so because they wanted work-life balance (64%), better salary and benefits (63%), and pleasant work atmosphere (51%.).

“After safe-distancing measures are lifted, employers may expect all their employees to return to the office full-time as a way to regain normalcy. However, in the interest of maintaining a good work-life balance and a safe work environment, employees may feel more motivated to look for employers that offer better work flexibility," Dass said.
