1 in 3 employees plan to ditch jobs in less than a year

Only 2 in 5 are uncertain about staying in their current role.

About 34% of employees do not plan to stay in their company for more than a year, LinkedIn revealed in a survey.

According to a press release, 20% are uncertain about staying in their current role.

Almost half, or 42%, are interested in job opportunities elsewhere. This is higher than the 30% global average.

A higher salary can still motivate 54% to explore a new career, but talents are also encouraged by companies that support their personal interests.

Feon Ang, vice president of Talent and Learning Solutions, Asia-Pacific at LinkedIn, said, "People often move to seek greener pastures when they feel stagnated at a workplace or have unmet expectations. This makes it even more important for businesses to ensure they build a strong talent pipeline by engaging prospective talent, as well as establish a strong employer brand, clearly communicating their culture and values to attract the right talent.”

The 67% that plan to stay in their companies for long are driven by challenge and skills improvement. Other reasons included work-life balance at 35%, and confidence in the company's future at 33%.

The survey also said 39% of Singaporeans value sense of pride in working for an admirable company.

This is "a sign that companies with strong employer brands will continue to see candidates coming their way," LinkedIn said.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
