It's high time to get some blood on your hands

And donate them to Gift Life's drive for 600 units of blood.

PropertyGuru recently launched GuruCares, its annual CSR event. On its 3rd year, the firm is having a blood donation drive themed "Gift Life" held across its 4 regional offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Over 200 PropertyGuru employees came together in a collective effort to make a difference in raising awareness of the importance of blood donation.

According to Bharathi Harikrishnan, Project Manager, Indonesia is the first to kick start the event last 28 November. The rest of the region (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand) held the event on the 12.12.12. Their goal is to receive 600 units of blood (150 per country).

"We have been doing different volunteer works for the last 2 years. For year 2012, we have about 12 ideas that poured in across the region. Blood donation, now known as 'Gift Life' has got the highest vote and hence we decided to do it this for year," Bharathi said.

PropertyGuru took up the cost for the goodie bags and collaterals, he added. Since the group was doing the event in the Red Cross premises, there weren’t any charges for the rental of premises. "The hardest moments is the communication and co-ordination of the event across the region and keeping up-to-date with logistical and event promotions internally and externally," she also shared.

GuruCares prides itself in the fact that it is initiated by employees and all contributes back to the society/community with the support given by its CEO Steve Melhuish and senior management team.

GuruCares ends 2012 in support of SAVH (Singapore Association of Visually Handicapped) after the Gift Life event. "Together with Born Christmas Islanders, we are supporting volunteers to raise funds for SAVH. Through GuruCares, PropertyGuru has chosen to procure all our Year End Corporate gifts from the volunteers with 100% of proceeds going directly to SAVH with a total amount of more than $10k," Bharathi noted.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
