Wyndham Hotels & Resorts strengthens Asia Pacific presence with record growth

Fuelled by the strong rebound in travel across Asia Pacific and "bleisure" travel trend, the company leverages its "OwnerFirst" approach and the award-winning Wyndham Rewards programme to empower franchisees for continued success.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world's largest hotel franchising company, solidified its dominance in Asia Pacific with a remarkable year in 2023. The company achieved impressive growth across all metrics, showcasing its unwavering commitment to the region's hospitality industry.

Fuelled by the booming "bleisure" travel trend in Asia Pacific, Wyndham capitalised on the surge in travel demand. This resulted in a significant expansion of its brand portfolio with the introduction of nine new brands across eight new markets. This strategic move allowed them to cater to a wider range of travellers seeking diverse accommodation options.

Wyndham's dedication to its franchisees is evident in its "OwnerFirst" approach. This philosophy emphasises the company’s long-term commitment to the success of its partners, as demonstrated by CEO Geoff Ballotti's recent visit to the region. Ballotti met with over 30 owners during his trip and participated in 27 signing ceremonies for new hotels, including properties in Greater China, Thailand, and Cambodia.

Joon Aun OOI, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, attributes the company's success to several factors.

“Bleisure tourism across the Asia Pacific region continued to recover nicely in 2023, creating unprecedented opportunities for Wyndham and our franchisees. As a result, demand for our 15 brands is as strong as it’s ever been, particularly amongst hotel owners, who increasingly are recognising the value of partnering with the world’s largest hotel franchisor,” said Joon Aun OOI, President, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Furthermore, Wyndham equips its partners with cutting-edge technology solutions. Franchisees benefit from over $275 million invested in innovative property management and revenue management systems. Additionally, Wyndham leveraged its extensive network and marketing expertise to drive traffic to its franchisees' properties, ensuring strong visibility and increased occupancy rates.

Wyndham's growth in 2023 was more than just about brand expansion. The company also achieved a staggering increase in its hotel portfolio. An impressive 222 hotels were signed, with 158 new properties opening their doors, resulting in a net room growth of over 7.4% year-on-year (exceeding 14,200 rooms). This significant addition to their presence across the Asia Pacific solidifies Wyndham's position as a major player in the region's hospitality landscape.

The company marked its expansion with the launch of several exciting properties in 2023. The Hawthorn by Wyndham Dali Erhai Park marks the brand's debut in both China and Asia Pacific, offering guests a charming escape near historical and scenic locations. In South Korea, the Wyndham Grand Busan ljin offers stunning ocean views, whilst the TRYP by Wyndham Wellington brings the brand to New Zealand.

Wyndham also unveiled several flagship hotels in Vietnam. The Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc holds the title of the world's largest Wyndham Grand, offering a luxurious retreat with diverse experiences. Its neighbour, the Wyndham Garden Grandworld Phu Quoc, has the distinction of being the world's largest Wyndham Garden. Finally, the Peninsula Excelsior Singapore, a Wyndham Hotel, soon to be renamed Wyndham Singapore, will become the brand's new flagship in Asia Pacific upon its official opening in 2024.

With its focus on innovation, strategic brand and hotel expansion, and unwavering commitment to owner success, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is well-positioned for continued dominance in the ever-evolving Asia Pacific hospitality market.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
