VTLs no more: SG allows quarantine-free travel for fully-vaxxed individuals

General travel will be allowed starting 1 April.

Starting 1 April 1, Singapore will no longer have Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) and will allow the entry of all fully-vaccinated travellers.

In a press briefing, Minister for Transport S Iswaran said Singapore will implement a Vaccinated Travel Framework in place of the VTL, which allows for quarantine-free travel for fully-vaccinated individuals.

The only exemption to the rule are individuals coming from “restricted” countries or regions or who have been in such areas in the preceding seven days.

As of 24 March, there are no countries under Singapore’s “restricted list.”

To make more travel more convenient, the government has also removed the entry approval requirements for short-term visitors, meaning fully-vaxxed individuals will no longer need to apply for a vaccinated travel pass before entering the Lion City.

Also stated in the framework is the removal of arrival test requirements; however, Iswaran said the government will still review his requirement in two to four weeks by mid-April, “taking into account the prevailing public health assessment.”

Meanwhile, the government said the SG Arrival Card will also be simplified for travellers.

With the abolishment of the VTL, designated VTL flights or ferries was also discontinued, thus allowing airlines to operate flights as they sued to pre-COVID.
