Singapore named the best Asian city for expats in 2024

The city-state has 1.23 million expats and migrant workers.

Singapore has clinched the top spot in Preply's list of best Asian cities for expatriates in 2024. Globally, Singapore ranked third.

According to Preply, Singapore is a compelling relocation option as it offers ample disposable income, outstanding cleanliness, a high safety index, and diverse cultural offerings.

Within Singapore, Ang Mo Kio emerged as the most affordable area for expat living, with an average monthly household income of US$5,499 and a one-bedroom condo rent of US$1,268 monthly, equating to only 23% of income spent on rent. 

Meanwhile, Toa Payoh took the lead as the most expensive area, demanding a substantial 91% of residents' monthly income for a one-bedroom condo.

Other notable affordable areas include Sembawang, Yishun, Punggol, and Choa Chu Kang, each offering varying levels of affordability and amenities for prospective expats.

Singapore has a monthly living cost of $4,355 and a comfortable disposable income averaging $4,980. 

The city-state also excels in safety, scoring 77 out of 100, and is recognised for its cleanliness.

Singapore's appeal extends beyond economic prospects as it boasts around 200 iconic attractions, such as Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. 

The city's multicultural environment, where English is an official language, makes it an attractive destination for expatriates.
