Return of Chinese tourists seen to help grow SG travel market by 60%

Euromonitor International said the reopening of China will make a stronger return.

After China finally reopened its borders and allowed travel without quarantine, Euromonitor International sees the Singapore travel market to benefit the most from it.

In a statement, a Euromonitor spokesperson said the travel market in Singapore is seen to go up by 60.11% from 2023 to 2027.

“A shorter recovery period of the local tourism industry in Singapore is foreseen as tourists from China are set to make a stronger return to Singapore from 2023, and as this source market makes a significant contribution to inbound trips and spending,” it said.

Campaigns from Singapore Tourism Board such as SingapoRediscovers and SingapoReimagine will bolster Singapore’s tourism recovery, which will be faster than its Southeast Asian neighbours.

Singapore also becomes more creative in offering better experiences for guests such as sustainable activities in hotels and opening packages in museums and art galleries.
