‘Notice of arrest’ issued against HPL’s MD over Iswaran’s corruption probe

Ong Beng Seng, however, has posted bail of $100,000.

Hotel Properties Limited’s (HPL) Managing Director Ong Beng Seng has been caught up in the corruption probe against Transport Minister S Iswaran.

In a bourse filing, HPL said Ong has been summoned by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) to “provide information about his interactions” with Iswaran.

HPL also revealed that Ong has received a notice of arrest but had already posted bail of $100,000.

“No charges have been filed against Mr Ong.  He will be travelling from 14 July 2023 and will be surrendering his passport to CPIB upon his return to Singapore,” HPL said.

The company said Ong is fully cooperating with the CPIB and has provided the information the agency needed.

“As this is an ongoing matter, he is unable to provide further details at this point. He has undertaken to provide updates to the Board if there are subsequent material developments,” HPL said.

After assessing the situation, the nominating committee of HPL determined that Ong remains suitable to carry out his duties and responsibilities as the company’s managing director.

“The Board and the Nominating Committee will continue to monitor the progress of the matter and the Nominating Committee will continue to re-assess the suitability of the continued appointment of Ong,” HPL said.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
