More than half of Singaporean travellers don’t buy travel insurance for their trips: report

Most travellers prefer to save valuable funds.

The adage “Better to be safe than sorry” seems lost on most Singapore-based travellers. A report released today by online travel agent ZUJI revealed that only 45% of Singapore travellers buy travel insurance for their trips.

Meanwhile, 30% of travellers only buy insurance for certain trips, while 9% only get travel insurance when it is affordable in order to save valuable travel funds.

The report also revealed that flight cancellations are a Singapore-based traveller’s worst nightmare (43%), and that finding out that the hotel is full and the booking isn't found are Singapore-based travellers' worst hotel irk (39%).

Last minute bookings aren’t popular. The majority of Singapore-based travellers going on a short getaway, book approximately 30 days in advance, whereas those who are going further abroad book 45 - 60 days in advance.

Despite Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia claiming the top 3 eeriest travel spots, interestingly, Malaysia and Thailand are two of the ZUJI Top 10 Hotel and Package destinations.
